Why an Audi needs more than a wrench
Audis are built on the VW Group's electronics, and a lot of routine jobs involve the car's software. A battery needs registering. Rear pads need the parking brake in service mode. Warning lights need a scan that reaches past the engine.
We do the wrench work and the software side together, at your car.
What we see on Audi cars
EPC light and reduced power
EPC stands for Electronic Power Control, the VW Group's warning for the throttle system. When it's on, the car may cut power to protect itself. Common causes include the throttle body, the brake light switch and engine sensors.
Coolant leaks on the 2.0 turbo
The third-generation EA888 2.0-litre turbo can leak coolant between the water pump and the thermostat, and the plastic coolant fittings on these engines get brittle with age. Coolant in the oil can point to the oil cooler or filter housing.
Rear brakes and the parking brake
Most current Audis have an electronic parking brake. Rear pads need the calipers put into service mode with a scan tool first, then reset. Forcing the pistons back can damage the calipers.
Valve cover leaks on the older 2.0T
The earlier EA113 2.0T is known for leaking valve cover gaskets. Left alone, oil can find its way into the spark plug wells and cause misfires.
Audi jobs that need a scan tool
- Battery registration. Every new battery is registered to the car, and coded too if the replacement differs from the original.
- Parking brake service mode. Opened with a scan tool before the rear pads come out, closed and checked after.
- EPC and warning lights. Scanned across every module, tested, and cleared once the cause is fixed.
- Pre-purchase inspections. Buying a used Audi? We check the known weak points and every module before you commit.

Questions
Audi owners ask
My Audi's EPC light is on and it has no power. Can I drive it?
Gently and briefly, to get somewhere safe. Reduced power is the car protecting itself. Keep it off the interstate until it's been scanned.
Does my Audi need its battery coded?
Audi requires a new battery to be registered to the car, and coded too if the replacement differs from the original. We handle both as part of the battery job.
Is EPC the same as the check engine light?
No. EPC is the VW Group's electronic power control warning, mostly tied to the throttle system. It often comes on alongside the check engine light, and both need a scan.
Will using you affect my Audi warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer or dealer can't deny warranty coverage just because maintenance or repairs were done somewhere other than the dealer. Keep your receipts. Repairs that the warranty itself pays for still go through the dealer.
