A code is where we start, not where we stop
A fault code names the circuit that's unhappy. It doesn't name the failed part. One misfire code can come from a spark plug, a coil, an injector or a vacuum leak, and those are very different bills.
So we read the codes, then we test. Live data, the freeze-frame snapshot from the moment the fault set, and a proper look at the parts the codes point to. You get an answer you can act on, not a list of numbers.
Every module, not just the engine
A basic code reader only talks to the engine and emissions side of the car. ABS, airbag, parking brake, battery management and comfort systems each report through their own modules, and a German car has a lot of them.
We scan all of them. A fault in one system often explains the warning light in another, and you only see that if you look at the whole car.
The $125 goes toward your repair
The diagnostic is $125. If you have us do the repair, the $125 comes off the final bill, so finding the fault doesn't cost you anything extra.
If you'd rather take the answer somewhere else, that's fine. You keep what we found.
Faults that only show up at home
Some faults appear on a cold start in your driveway, or twenty minutes into the commute, and never in a service bay. Because we come to the car, we can be there when it happens.
On German cars
- Lots of warning lights at once usually means low voltage, not lots of faults. We check the battery and charging system before anything else.
- EPC on a VW or Audi, or "Drivetrain malfunction" on a BMW, usually comes with reduced power. Here's what those mean.
- Codes get cleared after the cause is fixed, never before. Clearing first throws away the evidence.

Diagnostics, answered
Does the $125 come off the repair?
Yes. If you have us do the repair, the full $125 comes off the final bill. If you take the diagnosis elsewhere, the $125 covers the visit, the time and the equipment.
Can a parts store code read tell me the same thing?
It tells you which circuit set a code, usually on the engine side only. It can't test the part, and it can't see the other modules. It's a useful clue, not a diagnosis.
Do you diagnose cars that aren't German?
Yes. We work on every make. German cars are our specialty, and the same full-system approach works on everything else.
Can you diagnose a car that won't start?
Yes. We test the battery, the starting circuit, fuel and ignition right where the car is, so it doesn't need towing anywhere first.
