Mobile alternator replacement
A battery light while you're driving, lights that dim and brighten, or a car that dies again after a jump start. We test the charging system first, then replace the alternator where the car is.

Proved before it's replaced
We measure charging output at idle and under load, check the belt and tensioner, and test the battery. A slipping belt or a tired battery can look just like a failed alternator, and both cost far less to fix.
You'll know which it is before any part is ordered.
German cars notice a weak alternator early
German cars run a lot of electronics, and their modules are sensitive to voltage. When charging drops off, they often start logging faults before the car gives any other sign. A dash full of warnings can be the first clue the alternator is on its way out.
Why it's a starting price
From $155 labor on most vehicles. Some alternators sit right at the front of the engine. Others mean taking other parts off to reach them.
We confirm the price for your car before we start, and parts we supply carry a warranty.
On German cars
- Low charging voltage can set faults in several modules at once. After the repair we clear them and check they stay clear.
- If the battery was run flat by a failing alternator, we test it too. A battery that's been drained hard more than once often doesn't recover fully.
- Where a new battery is part of the fix, it gets registered to the car.

Questions
Alternators, answered
Is it the alternator or the battery?
A battery light while driving, lights that dim and brighten with engine speed, or a car that dies again soon after a jump usually point to the alternator. We test both to be sure.
Can you replace it at the roadside?
Usually, if the spot is safe to work in. A parking lot or driveway is fine. A narrow shoulder with traffic going past isn't.
Why isn't the price fixed?
Access varies a lot from engine to engine. We confirm the exact figure for your car before starting.
