Mobile car battery replacement

$125 labor on any vehicle. We test before we replace, fit the right battery, and on cars that need it, register the new battery so the car charges it properly.

Registered, not just bolted in

On many BMW, Audi, VW, Mercedes and Porsche models, the car keeps track of the battery's age and adjusts how it charges it. When a new battery goes in, the car has to be told.

Skip that step and the car keeps charging the new battery as if it were the old one. It can undercharge or overcharge it, start-stop may stop working, and faults can follow. Registration takes a scan tool, and we do it as part of the job.

Tested before it's condemned

A car that won't start doesn't always have a bad battery. A corroded terminal or a loose ground looks exactly like one, and so does an alternator that has stopped charging.

So we load-test the battery and check the charging system before anything is replaced. If the battery is fine, we'll tell you.

Heat is what wears batteries out here

In Tampa it's the heat, not the cold, that shortens a battery's life. A summer of open-sun parking takes a real toll, and a battery that coped all spring can give up in the first properly hot week.

Same price wherever the battery lives

Under the hood, under a seat or in the trunk, the labor is $125. The battery itself is priced for your car before we start.

Plenty of German cars keep the battery in the trunk or under the floor. That doesn't change our price.

On German cars

  • Registration on every car that needs it, so the charging system knows it has a new battery.
  • Mercedes "Auxiliary battery malfunction"? That's the small backup battery. We test it and what charges it before replacing anything. More on Mercedes.
  • Faults left behind by low voltage are cleared once the new battery is in, and we check they stay clear.

What's included

  • Load test before anything is replaced
  • Charging system output checked
  • Battery registered to the car where it needs it
  • Terminals and grounds cleaned
  • Low-voltage faults cleared after the fix
  • Old battery taken away

Questions

Batteries, answered

Is $125 the full price?

It's the labor, and it's the same on any vehicle. The battery itself is priced for your car before we start.

Does my car need the battery registered?

Many BMW, Audi, VW, Mercedes and Porsche models do, and some other makes too. We check yours and register it as part of the job.

Can you replace the auxiliary battery on a Mercedes?

Yes. We test the auxiliary battery and the parts that charge it first, because the message isn't always the battery itself.

How long should a car battery last in Tampa?

Less than it would up north. Heat is the main thing that shortens battery life, so a battery around three years old is worth testing before summer.
